Pumping Stations

HTMA’s collection and conveyance system consists of 14 pump stations which transport flow to the Borough of Chambersburg’s Wastewater Treatment facility.  A pump station is designed to handle raw sewage that is fed from either gravity pipelines or low pressure sewers and they are used to move wastewater to higher elevations.  Pump Station facilities contain pumps, controls and other essential equipment and they are necessary when flows cannot be conveyed entirely by gravity.  HTMA’s pump stations range in size and convey wastewater flows from 5,000 gallons per day (GPD) to 250,000 GPD during normal dry weather conditions.
