GIS Mapping / PA One Call System (PA 1 Call)

Hamilton Township Municipal Authority’s (HTMA) personnel relies on GIS technology to assist in locating sewer lines and appurtenances in the field and to respond to PA One Call Requests. The GIS Mapping system has incorporated as-built information the Authority has on file from when sewer lines and appurtenances were installed.
As new sewer extensions are constructed and/or dedicated to HTMA, the as-builts information is added to the GIS Mapping system. The GIS system is also used to track deficiencies and repairs made, and assists with asset management. HTMA’s staff utilizes the GIS mapping to respond to daily PA One Call tickets. HTMA responds to an average of 60 PA One Call Tickets each month and is responsible for marking the mainline and laterals (from the mainline to the edge of the right-of-way). Please note that we do not mark anything for the homeowner’s building sewer line. If you would like to obtain a copy of any visual drawings we may have on file for your property, you would need to complete and submit a Building Sewer Line Request Form.
What is the PA One Call System?
In Pennsylvania, homeowners and contractors are required to contact PA One Call, by dialing 8-1-1 at least three business days before beginning any digging or excavation project. When PA One Call receives a call, it will alert the appropriate underground facility owners of the intent to dig. The underground facility owners will identify any underground lines or facilities at the work site.
Who should call PA One Call?
Calling PA One Call, by dialing 8-1-1, is for professional excavators and do-it yourself homeowners. If a homeowner is doing the actual work, then it is the responsibility of the homeowner to contact PA One Call. This service is free to the homeowner! However, if a homeowner has hired a contractor to do the work, then the contractor is required to contact PA One Call.
When should I call PA One Call?
No matter if the project is as simple as planting shrubs and trees or installing a new mailbox post, Pennsylvania law requires anyone planning to do any digging or excavation contact PA One Call at least three days in advance.
